Remember the good old fashioned butcher shop. Well the barbecue season is here and if you're looking for choice cut meats to slap on the grill, head down to one of these local butchers to get what you want.
Avalon: For the second year, Murray's Meats is definitely a cut above the rest capturing the number one spot. Halliday's Meat Market is second followed by Sobey's.
Off the Avalon: L & M Meats of Burin are our reader's first choice. B & W Meats of Grand Falls-Windsor is in second and third place goes to Sobey's.

Want to satisfy your sweet tooth, just try one of these bakeries. Whether it's cakes and pies, for an anniversary or a wedding, you'll find just what you want.
Avalon: There was a tight race this year but Michel's Bakery stole top honours again, while Dominion is in second place and Sobey's finishes in third.
Off the Avalon: When voters in this category fancy something sweet, they head to Sobey's in Charlottetown who are the first place winner. Chatman's in Charlottetown was second followed by Mrs. B's in Marystown.

What would a sandwich be without deli meats, cheese and other items? Here are Herald readers suggestions for the best places to shop.
Avalon: For the best in deli, voters on the Avalon say Marie's Mini Marts have the best. Michel's is a close second and Stockwood's comes in third.
Off the Avalon: Voters have chosen Sobey's for the best in deli. Dominion are in second place followed by Gander Co-op.

From old-fashioned plain to jelly filled or glazed, doughnuts are the perfect addition to a coffee, tea or milk.
Avalon: For the third year in a row, Tim Horton's is in a class by itself winning 100 per cent of the vote.
Off the Avalon: Tim Horton's is still a big favourite coming in first, with Sobey's in second place and Coleman's in Corner Brook in third.

Fresh produce is essential to any nutritious meal. Whether it's something simple like lettuce or tomatoes or something more exotic like pineapple or kiwi, there are many places to choose from when buying fresh produce, however according to Herald readers, these are the best:
Avalon: Once again this year, it's Dominion with the first place title, followed closely by Sobey's and Taylor's Vegetable and Fish Market is third.
Off the Avalon: Dominion is the top place to get fresh produce according to Herald readers. Sobey's is a close second while Co-op is third.

There's nothing like the aroma that fills the house shortly after a loaf of fresh bread comes out of the oven. Whether it's bread you're looking for or a sweet treat give one of these bakeries a try.
Avalon: Herald readers ranked Bidgood's as this year's winner. Second place honours go to Marie's Mini Mart with Auntie Crae's in third.
Off the Avalon: Wanda's Little Bake Shop, Grand Falls-Windsor, is once again the number one choice; Danny's in Stephenville steps into second place while Sobey's takes third.
